The benefits of organic food is better health, period. You don’t have to be a genius to see the effect that unnatural chemicals and hormones have on our bodies. Cancer rates are the highest they have ever been and our young girls developing breasts and getting their periods as young as 9yrs old. This is attributable to pesticide-laden fruits, vegetables and meats from animals pumped full of growth hormones. Food and meat companies do this for one reason alone: so they can make more money! Pesticides and hormones come cheap and the effect upon volume of crops is astonishing…but we pay the price with our precious health!
Another health benefits of organic food is the enriched vitamin content of the food. Studies have shown higher vitamin levels across the board for both produce and meats produced organically. I know, I know: you take a multi-vitamin. But just think about how much better it is for your body to receive nutrients from actual food instead of a supplement! (Or even in addition to your supplement…) Many diseases and neurological disorders begin as simple vitamin deficiencies. Doctors do not have the time with patients to check for many of these deficiencies, but vitamin D and B are among the most common. These vitamins are vital to hormone production as well as neurological functioning. Many folks are on antidepressants these days that might be unnecessary if they only knew the toll that toxic substances in our food supply take on the body. When bodies receive the nutrients they so desperately need, they crave less food. Fewer food cravings can lead to weight loss, yet other benefits of organic food.
Let’s not forget one of the most important benefits of organic food – a cleaner, healthier planet! Let us consider the simple fact of growing food and grazing animals on land that is polluted and laden with toxic and radioactive chemicals…
My last point about organic food is a serious one that impacts your body in ways you may not have imagined. Picture the suffering the animals endure just to be an inexpensive part of our dinner table. Now think about what it feels like when YOU suffer or experience stress. Your heart beats, maybe your muscles are tensed, and your body is releasing adrenaline and cortisol – hormones that are essentially helpful except when they are released inappropriately. Too much adrenaline in the body causes wear and tear on the heart and nervous system, and cortisol can actually make your body store fat! We already know that stress is the #1 killer in America…as if you didn’t have enough of your own hormones to deal with, you will also ingest the stress and anger hormones of any animal flesh you consume. Remember this and the benefits of eating organic food are obvious: YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!
